West Ham United loanee Kalvin Phillips has sent a three-word message to Arsenal and England star Declan Rice.
It comes after the latter captained England against Belgium on Tuesday (26 March) on his 50th Three Lions appearance.
Gareth Southgate’s side played out a 2-2 draw in their international friendly with the Red Devils at Wembley.
Taking to social media to celebrate the captaincy and 50th cap, Rice posted on Instagram: “Captaining my country & 50th cap. Dreams.”
Among the many players congratulating Rice was Hammers man Phillips, who wrote: “Legend brother congrats.”
West Ham man Kalvin Phillips out of the England picture
Both midfielders, Rice and Phillips are at very different stages of their careers, with both obviously having strong connections to West Ham.
After several years at the East London club, Rice made a big-money switch to Arsenal last summer, with the England ace immediately hitting the ground running at the Emirates.
Phillips meanwhile struggled for game time at Manchester City in the early stages of the season, resulting in a loan switch to the London Stadium in January until the end of the campaign.
But a poor run of form saw him lose his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, with a return anytime soon looking very unlikely.
In stark contrast, Rice is one of the first names on the Three Lions teamsheet, and is certain to play a key role at Euro 2024 this summer.
Despite his move to a London rival, many Hammers fans will still be keeping tabs on Rice and wishing him well for both club and country, such is his status in claret and blue.
