Jake Paul has seemingly dismissed claims he weighs more than Deontay Wilder whilst preparing to fight Mike Tyson.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul has faced heavy criticism since his fight against boxing legend Tyson was announced as they meet on July 20 in Texas. Many of the fight rules are still unclear but it’s understood both Paul and Tyson want it to be sanctioned as a professional bout, despite ‘Iron Mike’ ending his professional career almost two decades ago.
Paul’s coach and former three-weight world champion Shane Mosley raised eyebrows recently by claiming the social media star currently weighs a massive 230lb. “I just saw Jake yesterday, he’s 230 pounds,” Mosley said. “He’s big, really big. He said that he feels as fast as he was at 185lbs and he’s still young
“He looked like he was comfortable in the weight, so I know that Mike Tyson has to fight in close. He likes to bob and weave and get close.” Paul has weighed as low as 183lb since ditching his internet fame for a boxing career, but has stepped on the scale at 200lb for his recent wins.
Paul responded to Mosley’s comments by saying: “Allegedly in my opinion, that’s a rumour. I feel like I’d be looking fat if I was 230lb.” The social media star’s good friend Amanda Serrano then jokingly said: “That rumour is me, I’m going up three divisions now, then I can drop down to 140lb.”
