Leeds United ‘join race’ for highly-rated Aston Villa star amid Premier League interest
Leeds United want to sign Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer, according to reports.
Daniel Farke is in the market for a striker following an injury to Patrick Bamford in pre-season, and Football Insider has reported that the west Yorkshire club have identified Archer as a possible target as we head into the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
The report states that the 21-year-old also has interest from other Premier League clubs including Sheffield United, and that Villa want around £20 million for the forward.
Archer recorded 11 goals and six assists during his time on loan at Middlesbrough last season. He has a contract at Villa Park until June 2027.
Villa interest in Peterborough defender
Peterborough United are bracing for bids from Premier League clubs for defender Ronnie Edwards and Posh owner Darragh McAnthony reveals Aston Villa are among the teams who have sent scouts to recent games.
The 20-year-old centre back is being chased by a number of clubs but McAnthony believes offers won’t start coming until top-flight sides have wrapped up the majority of their summer business.
Edwards joined Peterborough from National League side Barnet three years ago and has made 91 appearances for the club. He is also attracting interest north of the border at Rangers having played for England Under-19s and Under-20s. The player’s impressive progression has led to interest from a number of clubs but McAnthony has claimed Liverpool are not among them – much to his own disappointment as a self-professed fan of the Anfield club.
Villa have been named among other clubs to have attended recent games but they are set to face competition if they make a move for the defender.
