JUST IN: key player on pace to play at Lions on Monday night

The Las Vegas Raiders begin their practice preparations with some good news as starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is scheduled to practice on Thursday and so, barring any setbacks, is expected to will play Monday night at the Detroit Lions (5:44 p.m.. PT).. send)..
Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels told reporters Thursday morning that with Garoppolo back in practice, the team is “hopeful” he will play on Monday..
Garoppolo injured his back just before halftime of the 21-17 home win over the New England Patriots in Week 6 and did not return.. He also missed the Week 7 30-12 road loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.. Veteran backup Brian Hoyer started this game and rookie Aidan O’Connell played garbage time..
It is not known whether Hoyer or O’Connell will be the backup with Garoppolo returning.. Hoyer has been Garoppolo’s backup all season..
