Texas Rangers crowned offensive team of the year with Silver Slugger Stars
NEW DELHI: The Texas Rangers, fresh off their World Series championship, had two players, Corey Seager and Marcus Semien, named as Silver Slugger Award winners. Additionally, the team received the inaugural American League Offensive Team of the Year honor. The awards were presented by Louisville Slugger, and they recognize the top offensive performers at each position in both the American League and National League.
Seager, the Rangers’ shortstop, earned his third Silver Slugger Award.
He previously won the award twice in the National League while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016 and 2017. Second baseman Semien, in his first season with the Rangers, received his second Silver Slugger after winning it in 2021 with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Rangers also secured the American League Offensive Team of the Year award, highlighting their outstanding offensive performance throughout the season. The team led the league in various offensive categories, including runs, hits, home runs, RBIs, batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS.
Other Rangers players recognized with Silver Slugger Awards include first baseman Matt Olson, outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr., and third baseman Austin Riley. Olson, in his second season with the Braves, earned his first Silver Slugger, while Acuna Jr. and Riley received their third and second awards, respectively.
The Silver Slugger Awards cover multiple positions, and winners are selected based on their offensive contributions. The awards also extend beyond individual players, acknowledging entire teams for their offensive prowess. In the National League, the Atlanta Braves received the Offensive Team of the Year honor.
Notably, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Texas had multiple winners, showcasing the individual and collective offensive achievements of these teams. The Silver Slugger Awards celebrate the outstanding hitting performances of players across both leagues and highlight their contributions to their teams’ success during the season.
