Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Detroit Lions, dislikes some of the Thanksgiving fare that many people view as customary. When Detroit’s third-year head coach appeared on 97.1 The Ticket for his weekly radio interview, the question of what could be left off his Thanksgiving dinner plate was posed. Ham is a must-have. “I’m a big ham guy,” Campbell declared to Jansen and Stoney, the hosts. “Unless it’s fried turkey, I’m not a fan of turkey. I don’t like to dress. I don’t like cranberries. I’ll immediately give that to the dogs. I’ll stack everything else in a straight line on top of everything else. Get Ready for the Packers It will be Campbell’s third Thanksgiving as the Lions’ coach.
Players and coaches are now accustomed to preparing for games on short notice and in front of nationally televised audiences, as the organization has been featured on primetime several times in recent years. Campbell stated that this year’s preparations will be similar to previous years. “It’s very similar to what we’ve been doing since year one.” “I mean, there’s only so much practice you can do,” Campbell explained. “So, they came in, they got a lift, we met with them, kind of gave them an introduction to Green Bay, and then we’re going to have a walk-through here in a little bit, about an hour or so.”
“And then get them out of here, get them off their feet, give them some rest, because they just played yesterday.” Then they’ll come back in tomorrow and get a lot more of the game plan, the base, third-down, and then we’ll have another walk-through. So, for the last couple of years, it’s been pretty much business as usual.”
