SO SHOCKING: what a battle between the coach and his player

Eagles Fire Off 1-Word Answer on Final Decision for Coaching Changes

The Philadelphia Eagles coaching rumors are heating up, but some supporters may be disappointed to find that no changes are on the way. Head coach Nick Sirianni was specifically asked about adjustments with offensive coordinator Brian Johnson. Sirianni made headlines for the Eagles when he dismissed the idea of taking over play-calling duties or changing coordinators.

“No,” Sirianni answered quickly when asked about offensive alterations during a media presentation on December 12, 2023.

Sirianni was then questioned for more information on his reasoning. The Eagles’ 10-3 record and path to a strong playoff berth, according to the coach, show that Philadelphia can turn things around.

“Yeah, I feel good with the people that we have in this building,” said Sirianni. “We’re 10-3. We’re in charge of our own future, and we’re going to keep moving forward and finding solutions with the people we have.”

The Eagles’ defense, particularly against the pass, may be more troubling. Philadelphia is ranked 28th in the NFL, allowing 259.9 passing yards per game.

Sirianni, like Johnson, favored defensive coordinator Sean Desai going forward. Nonetheless, the Eagles coach cited the team’s failure to generate stops on third down as one of the major difficulties.

“Yeah, total confidence,” Sirianni remarked of Desai. “Of course, that is why we hired him for the job.” That’s why I hired him for the Sean position. And I believe the yards build up on you when you give up some third downs where it is.

“And, once again, the problem is everywhere, right?” We need to improve our coaching on third down. We need to put them in better places. We need to detail it for them, and we need to execute better. So, I believe everyone is on board with it. “I believe this is a team sport.”

After the Carolina Panthers fired Frank Reich in November, several speculated that the Eagles may bring back the team’s former offensive coordinator. Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Inquirer is urging the team to employ Reich as a consultant, even if owner Jeffrey Lurie must interfere.

“It’s a ticklish situation, but if Sirianni is squeamish, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie should step in and make the call,” Hayes wrote in a piece published on December 12. “The Eagles should hire Frank Reich to save their season.” “After all, it was Lurie who made the decision to hire Sirianni. He also determined that Hurts’ best mentor would be Brian Johnson.

“He also hired Super Bowl champion Doug Pederson and Andy Reid, the league’s current best coach.” If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that Lurie is an excellent judge of coaching talent.”

According to Sirianni’s words, no assistance is on the way from Reich or anybody else. Sirianni specifically stated that the solution is “in this building.” Time will tell whether the Eagles’ coach is correct.
