Leeds United nearing £5m swoop for 52-cap star wanted by numerous Championship clubs

Leeds United are now in advanced talks over a deal for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, Football Insider has said.

Leeds United are looking to pick up their transfer business ahead of the new season and it seems the pieces are starting to fall into place. Ethan Ampadu became signing number one and it looks as though Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow will follow soon.

Now, claims over the possibility of another new addition have emerged from Football Insider.

They report that the Whites are now in advanced talks to sign Rangers midfielder Kamara. The 27-year-old Finland international has been regularly linked with a move to Elland Road and it seems an agreement is moving closer.

It is said that as many as 10 Championship clubs have been keen on Kamara this summer but it looks as though Leeds are close to winning the race for his services as he prepares to leave Rangers after four and a half years.

Another midfielder inbound?

Midfield is an area Leeds United desperately need to bolster this summer so the proposed swoop for Kamara will come as music to the ears of supporters and manager Daniel Farke. He’ll bring an energetic presence to the middle of the park and offers an ability on the ball that has helped him enjoy a successful career for both club and country.

He can operate as a central midfielder or slightly deeper as a defensive midfielder, playing in both roles for Rangers and Finland, for who he has 52 caps.

The ex-Arsenal man’s arrival will mark another important step forward in Leeds’ summer transfer business but Farke and co will know they can’t stop there. More exits are inevitable and those who leave will need replacing if the Whites are to fight it out for automatic promotion back to the top-flight.
