Why i think Nottingham Forest should not go for 20-year-old Brazilian Forward- Tim Vickery

Tim Vickery has told Sky Sports that Nottingham Forest might not be the ideal club for Marcos Leonardo. However, the South American football expert is a massive fan of the striker and thinks more clubs should be interested.

The journalist has been discussing Leonardo with Sky Sports. He’s offered some information on the type of player the Brazilian is, with Forest the latest club to be linked.

The 20-year-old centre-forward is another burgeoning talent to emerge from the amazing youth academy at Santos. During the 2022/23 campaign, he’s found the net 14 times and is in good form.

Forest do hold some reservations about moving for Leonardo. According to Brazilian outlet, Lance, the Reds are carefully weighing up whether they should make a move for the player.

Vickery has offered some insight as to what kind of striker the Brazilian is. He’s also suggested that a move to Forest perhaps wouldn’t be right for the youngster at this stage.

He told Sky Sports: “He’s another one who comes from Santos. I’m a little bit surprised there’s not more noise about this player.

“Marcos Leonard is a stocky centre-forward, penalty area player. Very, very good in restrictive space inside the penalty. Perhaps he doesn’t give you as much outside but his goal record is very good. He’s only 20.

“Nottingham Forest might not be the ideal club for him. He might be better at a club that will create more chances and he has to do less work outside of the penalty area.”

Vickery doesn’t think Leonardo would be right for Forest

This would be an interesting one. Taking away the kind of striker he is, it has to be said that any striker coming in from Brazil would have to go down as a bit of a risk.

The Reds do definitely need another frontman though. Taiwo Awoniyi was the top goalscorer last season but now Sam Surridge has departed and Emmanuel Dennis has been deemed surplus.

Leonardo does fit the profile quite nicely. Coming from Brazil he probably wouldn’t cost a fortune but with FFP hanging around the City Ground, Forest will have to make sure that any incoming deal is the right one.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this one. With Anthony Elanga now in the ranks, Forest might have a little more creativity next season and as a result, they might be able to convince Leonardo to come to the club.
