DANIEL FARK CREDITED BY LEEDS UNITED MANAGEMENT FOR RECENT SIGNING

Charlie Cresswell has signed a new deal at Leeds United until June 2027 in what is a real sign of intent from Leeds, ignoring interest from other clubs – prompting reaction from Norwich star Max Aarons and Leeds ace Joe Gelhardt.

It has become crucial this summer that Leeds keep Cresswell. The 20-year-old was loaned to Millwall last season and played 35 times, before picking up a facial injury that ruled him out of the last six weeks. He is back with Leeds.

But with Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Max Wober all leaving the club – on loan – it was very important that Cresswell stayed put. The defender has penned a new deal for the next four years at Elland Road.

There is likely to be competition for Cresswell on the right of central defence, too – in the form of a new signing. Nat Phillips, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and others have been linked. Cresswell has posted on Instagram following his deal.

Charlie Cresswell signs new Leeds deal: Max Aarons, Joe Gelhardt react

It comes after The Sun said in the summer Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough were interested in a possible £4m deal. Nothing materialised. But, he was in the final year of his Leeds deal upon returning and it was key he signed on.

That is now the case. It is a sign that Leeds are placing their faith in Cresswell, and he is happy with the terms that have been presented to him – clearly, he has been given assurances in terms of game time. He is now likely to start.

Plenty responded to his post – a defender that has enjoyed a wonderful summer, after being a part of Lee Carsley’s squad that won the Under-21 European Championships. Norwich’s Aarons, and Leeds star Gelhardt responded.
