Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has already explained exactly what Leeds United would be getting if they were to make a move for Manchester City’s rising star Taylor Harwood-Bellis. The England youth international helped the Clarets win promotion from the Championship last season and won the Under-21s European Championship with England earlier this summer.

Despite his clear talent, the 21-year-old is yet to break into City’s first-team on a regular basis and could leave this summer. Leeds, West Ham and Fulham have been credited with an interest in the young centre-half who is approaching the final year of his contract at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side have a reported asking price of £15million for his services, enough to put Burnley off a permanent move for the youngster. Kompany, a former Man City centre-back himself, has worked with the defender on a number of occasions, at Anderlecht and as recent as last season at Turf Moor.

“I think Taylor has done exactly what I’ve expected him to do,” Kompany told Lancs Live when asked about his development last season.. “I’ve known Taylor since he was a very young footballer before he was even a first-team player, and his one outstanding attribute is his attitude.

“He really has an outstanding attitude and he’s got good habits of high-level professionals. His level is for everyone to see. I had him when he was at Anderlecht, and he’s a better player now.

“The player he is now today, give him another year or two, he’s going to be a much-improved player again because he has the right attitude. We’re excited to be a part of his development.”
