JUST IN: Farke outlines what he wants from prospective Leeds United transfer targets

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke says he won’t sugar-coat the current transfer situation at Elland Road but is confident heading into next season. The Whites have signed Ethan Ampadu, Karl Darlow and Sam Byram so far this summer, but the German head coach refused to put a number on how many signings he’d like before the transfer window slams shut.

Farke said: “I can’t give you a number and I’m also not just concentrated on September. There are many points to play for during August and we want to win as many points as possible to put us into a good position.

“I don’t want to sugar-coat the situation, I like to speak quite honest and open about it. I think you can feel I’m confident and in a good mood but in a good mood.

Farke believes he has 'credit in the bank' amid Norwich City's winless start in the Premier League

“I know that it’ll be difficult and I predicted a bumpy start so I would still take each of the wins in each of the game and each of the points, but I don’t think we will be at our best already in August because the pre-season was too short. We have all the distraction with outgoings.

“Yeah, also incomings not too many so far. I’ll be honest, but I’m also not a deep believer in unbelievably big group.

“I know as a manager you always cry for options and more quality – but I don’t believe in groups of 40 players or something like this because it’s also difficult to see unity and togetherness. We will work definitely was with a tight group also during the season because we have to stick also to the financial necessities.

“But I think it’s also our responsibility to be there for sustainability and bring a bright future to the club and don’t do anything stupid. So I think we have to do it in a in a smart way. But also still ambitious and we definitely need to also to bring a few more options in.
