Zaniolo ‘talks’
Nicolo Zaniolo is a new name to emerge in transfer links with the Magpies in recent weeks, despite only joining Galatasaray in January. The former AS Roma attacker has registered five goals and an assist in 12 appearances for the Turkish giants so far, and is the subject of speculation this summer.
Newcastle are among the clubs linked to the Italy international, along with the likes of AC Milan and Juventus. However, a number of reports suggest United are yet to make an official approach for the 24-year-old, who missed a recent Champions League qualifier win over Zalgiris with injury.
However, Hurriyet claim Zaniolo’s agent is in talks with Newcastle along with another English club, the aforementioned Serie A sides and a Saudi Pro League outfit. Galatasaray are said to be willing to accept a deal in the region of £26 million in order to comply with Financial Fair Play.
Cathal Heffernan is seemingly set to become the latest ’emerging talent’ to sign for Newcastle United amid a renewed focus on the club’s academy. The AC Milan prospect has been on trial with the Magpies, and featured in the last two friendlies for the under-21 side.
Newcastle have also signed three youngsters at various age groups this summer, and are now said to be targeting Hamilton Academicals prospect Ryan One. The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the best talents in Scotland, with Brighton said to have failed with two bids to land the forward.
According to TeamTALK, Liverpool and Newcastle have both lodged ‘enquiries’ over a prospective move, while Burnley have also joined the race to sign One.
