It has been reported that West Ham United have no intention to sell Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City for less than £85 million.
This comes from Sky Sports News (via Football Daily), after it was claimed on Thursday that David Moyes’ side were set to reject City’s initial £70 million offer.
Now, it seems like Manchester City have been demanded to pay as much as £85 million to sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United.

Branded as ‘absolutely incredible’ and ‘mind-boggling’ by Declan Rice (via Evening Standard), the 25-year-old seems like a potential arrival that is capable of operating as both an advanced midfielder and out wide as well.
With the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez having left the Etihad Stadium, the mission seems to be to cover both positions as much as possible, with Phil Foden also tested in midfield.
However, Manchester City have been informed by West Ham that they will only part ways with Lucas Paqueta if a bid worth £85 million comes their way.
“We are told that the proposal was deemed in no way acceptable. West Ham will not even begin to consider selling him for less than £85 million. This [£70 million offer] has been in no way accepted, it’s obviously considerably less than £85 million, this bid. However, it’s understood that Paqueta’s head has been turned by Manchester City’s interest.”, Sky Sports News reported.

If Manchester City are eventually left with no choice but to shell out an £85 million fee to sign him from West Ham, they would be better suited looking elsewhere.
Such a whopping investment would demand the incoming in question to have somewhat of a transformative effect and currently, it is hard to imagine if the Brazilian international even slots into City’s best XI.
While signing Paqueta would be a smart piece of business, the fee in question is key to determine whether the Sky Blues have put a rare foot wrong in the transfer market for once.
