BREAKING NEWS: Newcastle United suffered a double injury blow before of their match against Aston Villa.

Newcastle United will be without Emil Krafth and Joe Willock for Saturday’s Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s side face a tough trip to St James’ Park in their first game of the new season on Saturday, August 12 (kick-off: 17:30pm). The Magpies finished fourth last season and will be playing Champions League football in 2023/24.

Newcastle are also set to hand a debut to defender Tino Livramento who is expected to be fit for Saturday’s game. The full-back has arrived from Southampton on a five-year contract.

But Eddie Howe’s team will have to deal with a couple of absentees in a potential boost for the Villans this weekend. Defender Krafth and midfielder Willock will be unavailable against Villa.

As reported in the Shields Gazette, Krafth has returned to training following the serious injury he picked up last August, whilst Willock’s hamstring injury picked up at the back end of the 2022-23 campaign has proven more serious than initially thought.

“We’re getting everyone back to full fitness around the same time,” Howe said. “The only two players who will definitely be missing the start of the season are Emil Krafth and Joe Willock.

“But fingers crossed everyone else could be okay.”
