£35m, Leeds United suffer significant transfer setback as talented star target signs Premier League transfer agreement – Journalist

Leeds United look set to miss out on the signing of Gustavo Hamer this summer, with a deal agreed to see Coventry City sell him to Sheffield United.

The Whites need investment as soon as possible for the first team, with Daniel Farke dealt constant injury blows so far in his early stages as Leeds boss.

Midfield has been an area of weakness identified by Farke after seeing Marc Roca and Adam Forshaw leave, while Tyler Adams’ £20m exit is imminent.

Gustavo Hamer latest

Leeds’ key target in the middle of midfield was Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer, who looked very impressive on the opening day of the season despite his side’s defeat away at Leicester City – per The Athletic.

However, the club won’t be bringing in Hamer this month from their EFL rivals, with The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath reporting that the Sky Blues have agreed to sell him to Sheffield United in the Premier League.

How much are the Blades paying for Hamer?

The Dutchman comes in at a decent cost for a Championship midfielder in the final year of his contract, and rightly so after his 22/23 campaign.

McGrath reports that a fee in the region of £15million has been agreed between the two clubs who finished in the Championship’s top six last season, as the Blades plan for survival in the top flight.

Should Leeds cash in on Gnonto?

Another one bites the dust.

Leeds need to start acting a lot quicker in the market or every high-calibre signing that they want to make will be snapped up.

Hamer would have been the best signing of the summer by some way if we pulled it off, but that’s why he’s heading to the Premier League.

Sheffield United need a lot more than Hamer to stay in the Premier League, but they are making a very good signing here.
