Leicester City injury blow could jeopardize city target as player set to undergo surgery

The latest Leicester City news as the goalkeeper impressed in his debut against Coventry at the weekend

Leicester City have reportedly been handed an injury concern over goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, with the Dane said to have undergone a “precautionary scan”.

Hermansen impressed in his first start for the club on Saturday, making some impressive saves in the second half of the 2-1 win over Coventry City at the King Power Stadium. His ability with his feet is also key to how City play under Enzo Maresca.

He was not included in the squad for the Carabao Cup first round clash against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium. Jakub Stolarczyk made his first competitive start for the club.

According to talkSPORT’s Geoff Peters , Hermansen picked up an injury in training, which would be a concern for City ahead of the weekend’s Championship clash against Huddersfield Town. He wrote on Twitter: “Potentially concerning news for Leicester City. Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen picked up a quad injury in training and the summer signing, who started against Coventry at the weekend, was sent for a precautionary scan. He’s not involved at Burton tonight #lcfc.”

Enzo Maresca is expected to give an update on the player’s condition in his press conference following the game against Burton. If Hermansen is not deemed fit enough to feature at the John Smith’s Stadium, City have Stolarczyk, Daniel Iversen or Danny Ward to turn to.
