Willy Gnonto on receiving end of scathing assessment from Leeds United legend

Former Leeds United striker Brian Deane has issued stern criticism for Willy Gnonto following his refusal to play for the club last week.

A lot of happening at Elland Road but not much of it is positive from Daniel Farke’s perspective, as outgoing speculation dominates the discussion.

Willy Gnonto’s name is grabbing a lot of the attention right now after his underhanded antics to bring about a transfer were confirmed by the club.

What has Gnonto done?

After not being named in the squad for the EFL Cup clash last week against Shrewsbury, it was revealed through a club statement on Friday that the Italian had refused to play, and was doing likewise for the trip to Birmingham City at the weekend.

This comes alongside interest and a rejected £15million bid from Everton in the Premier League, while the 19-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms over a move to Goodison Park.

Since them, Tottenham have been claimed to have registered their interest in signing the attacker from Leeds.

Brian Deane slates Gnonto

Without explicitly naming names, former Leeds and Sheffield United striker Brian Deane has shared his thoughts on the matter.

He believes that what Gnonto has done is unacceptable, as he took to social media today:

Spot on.

The amount of player power that is being demonstrated this summer is very worrying for clubs that are potentially selling.

We want to sell Gnonto now, but he’s put his cards on the table to the point where he’s trying to ensure we get a reduced fee for him.

It’s vile what he’s done and while some can defend him by claiming he’s poorly advised by his agent, he’s an adult that can disagree with the obviously bad influences around him.

Get rid once a good bid comes in, no one wants to see his face at Elland Road again after this saga.
