“For sure”: An update on Everton amid “tense” transfer negotiations – Fabrizio…

Leeds United forward Willy Gnonto still has a decent chance of joining Everton as he pushes to exit Elland Road this month.

Daniel Farke was handed a huge transfer boost this week as it has been revealed that the relegation release clauses present across a number of players have now expired, giving the club much more power in the market.

However, Willy Gnonto’s situation hasn’t changed at all, with no clause present in his contract, but plenty of uncertainty clouding his time at Leeds currently.

Gnonto to Everton?

A move for the Italian international seems to be most likely to come from Goodison Park, with Everton showing strong interest in the form of a fourth offer coming in recently, per Sky Sports, amounting to a total package of £25million.

What Leeds do with this new approach remains to be seen, but their stance is still that the player is ‘not for sale’, as pointed out by the club statement last week prior to the trip to Birmingham City.

Fabrizio Romano delivers latest?

Fabrizio Romano has now shared further insight into the matter, claiming that it’s still a deal that has a chance of being completed this month.

Despite signing Jack Harrison on loan and being rebuffed thus far by Leeds, the Toffees remain in the running for the Italian international.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Romano had this to say:

“Gnonto remains a target, for sure. The player is desperate for the move and, in one sense, fighting to join the club because he really appreciates the possibility.

“He knows that Everton are pushing to sign him, and he’s pushing on his side with Leeds. But Leeds are not moving from their position and they don’t want to sell the player.

“It’s a tense, complicated situation now. But I think there is still a chance to see Gnonto joining Everton this summer because the player really wants to make this move happen.”

Should Leeds cash in on Gnonto?

Gnonto needs to leave this month, but he’s not going to go unless we get the right fee for him, which Everton look to be getting closer to.

He’s our player and we have reiterated he’s not for sale, so the Toffees need to table a bid that better proves they want him.

Farke has been here before with players wanting to leave and has done very well to get them back into the squad, so this will be like water off a duck’s back to him.
