Who will Spurs replace Kane with?
Spurs and new manager Ange Postecoglou have actually started life without Kane brilliantly, scoring four goals in two of their opening Premier League matches.
A 2-2 draw away to Brentford and impressive 2-0 victory over Man United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday showcased the club’s new look attacking style under Postecoglou.

Whichever forward ends up joining Spurs, if any, will have some pretty big shoes to fill as Kane was a serial record-breaker during his time in north London.
Reporter O’Rourke, writing a piece for Football Insider, has shared news from one of his well-placed sources – who has apparently said Tottenham are setting aside a “huge” sum of cash to sign Kane’s successor.
The journalist also claims that Spurs are “now set to move” for their top striking targets as they eye a “prolific new striker” following Kane’s sale.
It is believed the club plan to land a “big signing” in that area before September 1 and “significant funds” are available, which will come as an exciting bit of news for Tottenham supporters.
Orban is indeed being targeted, while O’Rourke writes that Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is not of interest despite reports stating otherwise.
Which striker should Spurs sign?
Despite Orban’s obvious potential, we believe Spurs should display some ambition with a move for David, as Romano has reported this week.
The Canada international has been in quite simply scintillating form for his club, Lille, scoring 26 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side last term.
Canada manager John Herdman has also called David a ‘fearless’ striker, while French football expert Adam White raved over the 23-year-old’s exploits in a detailed piece for The Guardian – likening him to both Luis Suarez and Wissam Ben Yedder.
David also has just two years left on his contract, which expires in 2025, meaning Spurs could potentially wiggle down Lille’s asking price of around £55m.
Indeed, having regularly scored for fun in the French top flight, he has more experience than someone like Orban but also years of proven ability

Spurs have already brought in James Maddison, Micky van de Ven Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon, Ashley Phillips, and Alejo Veliz to bolster the squad, and they must now pay up to £40m to land a new no.9, if recent reports are to be beleived.
According to Football Insider, K.A.A. Gent are looking for a record Belgian transfer fee in order to part ways with exciting forward Gift Orban and the stated price is between £30m and £40m.
The report claims that Premier League sides Tottenham and Fulham are both interested in a deal for the Nigeria U23 international after their sales of Harry Kane and Aleksandar Mitrovic respectively.
It also states that Ange Postecoglou’s team are ‘desperate’ to find a new centre-forward before the window slams shut at the start of last month after their all-time top scorer moved to Bayern Munich.
How good is Gift Orban?
If the 21-year-old starlet can translate his form for Gent over to English football then he would be a phenomenal performer for Spurs, and a player who would be a dream partner for Maddison at the top end of the pitch.
Orban only joined the Belgian side in January but has hit the ground running with a staggering 26 goals in 28 competitive appearances over the last eight months or so.
The Nigerian marksman has racked up 17 strikes in 19 Pro League matches for the club and averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.42 across 17 league outings during the 2022/23 campaign.
He has also found the back of the net nine times in nine European matches for Gent, which shows that the talented ace has been able to thrive domestically and on the continental stage.
Meanwhile, no player outside of Kane (30) scored more than ten Premier League goals for Spurs and Heung-min Son (ten) was the only other ace with more than five strikes.
This suggests that Orban could provide Postecoglou with some much-needed firepower in the final third and having a player like Maddison to supply him could be a dream for the Australian head coach as the England international is a terrific creator.
The former Leicester City star has already assisted two goals in two games for the club this season and has created four chances per match so far, which is two more per outing than any of his teammates.
This comes after the 26-year-old magician provided 2.3 key passes per outing for the Foxes in the top-flight last term, which was 0.6 more than any Spurs player managed.
These statistics suggest that the England maestro, who also scored ten Premier League goals last season, will be Postecoglou’s outstanding creative threat at the top end of the pitch for Spurs.
Therefore, Maddison would be the perfect attacking midfielder to play behind Orban, who was described as “born to score” goals by talent scout Jacek Kulig, as he has the ability to create chances on a consistent basis to provide the attacker with the opportunities he needs in front of goal to carry his form at Gent over to England.
This means that they could be a fantastic duo for Spurs by linking up with each other to cause constant problems for the opposition throughout the rest of this season if Postecoglou can bring the 21-year-old ace to London before the deadline.
Spurs: Alasdair Gold shares promising Tottenham transfer belief

Who will Spurs sign?
Ange Postecoglou has seemingly reinvigorated sections of the Lilywhites fanbase with his brand of outright attacking football, and Spurs are starting the new season very well.
It’s early days but they remain unbeaten over their first two league matches, having sealed a 2-2 draw away to Brentford on the opening weekend and exceptional 2-0 win at home to Man United last Saturday.
Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr bossed the midfield with their displays against Erik ten Hag’s side, now looking transformed under Postecoglou so far, but there is still work to be done this transfer window.
Tottenham have already sealed the signings of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, young centre-back Ashley Phillips, defender Micky van de Ven, playmaker James Maddison, winger Manor Solomon and striker Alejo Veliz, but Postecoglou has previously hinted at the possibility of another defender.
“It’s not done yet,” said Postecoglou earlier this month.
“We need bolstering in that central defensive area. We need defenders who can work in an aggressive formation, defend well & behind them. We’ll be looking to bring in a couple in that area in the coming days.”
Postecoglou later said that outgoings need to happen first before bringing in more players, though, so exits will be crucial over this final stage of the window.
“We’ve to see what happens with outgoings,” explained Postecoglou thereafter.
“But, the potential is there to bring in one more centre back after van de Ven.”
It appears Spurs will be prioritizing outgoings first, but that isn’t to say they aren’t making some transfer plans behind-the-scenes, as reliable reporter Gold of football.london explains on his YouTube channel.
The Tottenham correspondent, making a promising claim, has suggested that the club have deals “lined up” and “ready to go” once they shift certain squad members.

“Postecoglou said that himself in his press conference on Friday he pretty much said how there’s areas in defence, midfield and attack that they can upgrade on as well.
“I would keep an eye on what happens.
“I kind of get the feeling that Spurs have got a number of deals lined up ready to go if they can get the players out of the squad first.”
Who should Tottenham sign?
We believe the defensive area needs more reinforcement, especially after last season, where they shipped a pretty poor 63 league goals.
Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs is the star defender to have been most recently linked with a move to north London, and the player may well be available for an attainable £28 million.
The colossal ace made 30 Serie A appearances under Torino boss Ivan Juric last season, all while making more successful tackles and clearances per 90 than any other player in their squad (WhoScored).
Journalist Josh Bunting, taking to X in 2022, was effusive in his praise for Schuurs – who he called a “mountain” at the back for Torino.
If Spurs move forward on their alleged interest, he could be excellent back up to the likes of Cristian Romero and van de Ven.

Following the exit of Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur have been left without a natural goal scorer and are running out of time to find a replacement, with the summer transfer window coming to an end in just over a week.
The Lilywhites have, however, received a boost in their pursuit of KAA Gent forward Gift Orban, according to reports.
What’s the latest on Gift Orban to Tottenham Hotspur?
It was previously reported that Spurs scouts were left blown away by Orban, and believe that the forward is the key man to replace Kane this summer. Now, the North London club have received another positive boost in the saga.
According to Het Nieuwsblad, via Sport Witness, Gent actually now want to sell their forward to Spurs this summer, and would even prefer to see Orban depart over his teammate Hugo Cuypers.
Given Gent’s reported valuation of just €30m (£33m), too, it’s a deal that Spurs should be able to fund following the sale of Kane to Bayern Munich for a reported £86m this summer.
As things stand, with the end of the transfer window edging closer and closer, Ange Postecoglou remains without a clinical goalscorer, but Orban is certainly one to keep an eye on.
Should Tottenham Hotspur sign Gift Orban?
To say that replacing club-record goalscorer Kane is no easy task would be an incredible understatement. That said, welcoming 21-year-old Orban would go a long way in filling the gaping hole left behind by Spurs’ star man.
Orban is a player that should only get better, given his age, and the potential that he has so far shown in his relatively young career. Last season, the Gent forward scored 20 goals in 22 games in all competitions to make his mark in Belgium. And if people think that was just a fluke, so far this season, he has found the back of the net a total of six times in six games.
No matter which way you look at it, Orban knows where the back of the net is.
It is his form over the last year that has resulted in several pieces of praise, including from journalist Lolade Adewuyi, who said: “Arrived in Ghent to watch two of the most exciting young Nigerian talents play tonight – Gift Orban for KAA Gent and Victor Boniface of Royale Union Saint Gilloise. The Belgian league is a breeding ground for Nigerian players and these boys are hugely popular here.”
So far, Postecoglou’s Spurs side feel like a fitting next destination for a promising young striker, too, especially with the way they took the game to Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side, defeating the Red Devils 2-0 in comfortable fashion.
Add a player like Orban to the side that brushed United aside, and all of a sudden, Spurs could be in with a shout to qualify for the Champions League once more.
Of course, it’s a long season ahead, but replacing Kane could be imperative to how the Lilywhites’ season goes. As the window comes to a close, Spurs could be one of the most interesting sides to watch.
