Tottenham ‘prepare’ swap deal for target as £50m PL star ‘prefers’ Spurs move

Hugo Lloris will not move to Lazio after turning down a move to the Italian giants as he continues to explore other opportunities.

According to Fabrice Hawkins via Gianluca Di Marzio, Hugo Lloris has turned down a move to Lazio amid concerns about his status in the squad. The French veteran did not want to play second fiddle at the Rome club and will continue exploring further opportunities in this window.

Hugo Lloris is no longer an automatic starter at Tottenham this season as Guglielmo Vicario has usurped his No.1 spot. The Italian keeper has performed well in the opening two games and put in a top display against Manchester United last weekend.

Lloris was already considered surplus to requirements midway through last season when a series of error-prone displays cost Tottenham valuable points. The French veteran finished the season with an injury and was not expected to begin as their No.1 this season.

Spurs had opened their doors over an exit when early Saudi interest emerged. Lloris does not seem to fancy a move to the Middle East yet, or maybe the offers weren’t up to the mark. Either way, the talk of a move to the Saudi Pro League cooled quickly as some European clubs focused on the experienced star.

Lloris feels he can perform at the highest levels and wants his new club to take him as their No.1. It’s possibly why he has turned down a move to Lazio after the Italian giants pushed for a move. Summer arrival Ivan Provdel seems nailed down for the No.1 spot, and Maurizio Sarri wanted Lloris as his No.2.

The conditions weren’t acceptable for Lloris, who has since turned down a move to Lazio. The French star will likely wait until the end of the window for a better offer from another club. There were rumours of a move to Real Madrid as Thibaut Courtois’ replacement.

Real Madrid have since signed Kepa Arrizabala from Chelsea on loan. Hence, Lloris may have to look for another market opportunity. As the window nears its end, more clubs, even some from the Premier League, could approach Tottenham for Lloris.

If there’s no time left, Spurs might even consider keeping the experienced star in the side to provide backup to Vicario. Hence, Lloris’ future remains uncertain, with the possibility of leaving and staying very much in the balance.

Tottenham are lining up a move for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson amid interest from other Premier League clubs, according to reports.

Spurs are still looking at ways to replace Harry Kane’s 30 Premier League goals from last season after the England international left north London for Bayern Munich earlier this month.

Ange Postecoglou is yet to bring in a direct replacement for Kane and there have been rumours they might not buy another striker in this window with suggestions that ‘the Kane money has already been invested’.

However, the Premier League club are looking to strengthen in forward areas in general with the Daily Mail insisting that ‘preparing to launch their bid’ for Nottingham Forest’s Johnson.

Forest value the Wales international at around £50m and have already turned down a bid of £35m from fellow Premier League side Brentford this summer.

The report adds that West Ham and Chelsea have ‘also been considering bids’ for the Forest academy graduate but that ‘his preference should he go is understood to be Tottenham’.

The Daily Mail continue:

‘They are readying an offer which could yet include players as Forest are struggling to land all of their targets.

‘Centre back Davinson Sanchez is one possibility though there are a number of other fringe players Tottenham are willing to trade if they can fit into Forest’s wage structure.

‘Tottenham want an extra goal threat following the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich. They want pace too and believe Johnson has the right profile of being able to fit their system and play across the front line.

‘Johnson is understood to prefer Tottenham as he believes he will have a greater chance of playing regularly and establishing himself.’

Another attacking player to leave this summer was Lucas Moura, who joined Sao Paulo, and the Brazilian has opened up on a “difficult year” for him at Spurs.

“Well, it was actually a very complicated year. Particularly speaking, it was a difficult year for me, where I had few opportunities. And I ended up being out of some games because of an injury I had. And also in the collective, the team was not very good,” Moura told ESPN Brasil.

“The team didn’t do very well. We failed to achieve the goals we had at the beginning of the season. We failed to qualify for any European competition. And it wasn’t the way I wanted my time at Tottenham to end. A club for which I have a huge affection, where I lived incredible experiences.
