Leeds United at ‘final stages’ of negotiations with Agent.

A round-up of the latest Leeds United headlines this evening

Leeds United at ‘final stages’ of Rangers negotiations for Glen Kamara

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Leeds United are closing in on a deal to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara. The Whites have been repeatedly linked with a move for the Finland international but Rangers boss Michael Beale had played down talk of an immediate departure.

Those talks look to have ramped up a level with Romano claiming a deal could be completed early this week. Kamara’s impending arrival would bring some much needed depth in the heart of midfield.

Farke explains ‘difficult’ decision to substitute Cody Drameh in Leeds United’s win at Ipswich

Daniel Farke says it was a difficult decision to take off Cody Drameh against Ipswich Town but refuses to lay any blame at the young defenders door. The Whites academy graduate struggled after replacing the injured Sam Byram midway through the first-half, with Farke replacing the substitute at half-time.

Drameh has been tipped to establish himself as the main right-back at Elland Road this summer after shining on loan with Luton Town last year. However, an early injury has kept him out of the early part of the campaign and he was thrust back into the deep end at Portman Road.

“Well, first of all, it feels a bit like right now we’re in the season and if you think ‘thank God no sucker punch’, comes another sucker punch,” the Whites boss said. “Sam has been brilliant so far and this moment there was an injury.

“He was even last games one of our best performers. It was a bit tricky because we were pretty much aware that always Wes Burns has unbelievable pace and we need a quick player to defend him.”

It’s almost a case of one step forward, two steps back for Leeds United in their battle to get players fit. Daniel Farke was able to call Leo Hjelde and Crysencio Summerville back into the matchday squad for the Whites’ win over Ipswich Town, but Daniel James was ruled out of the tie following an injury to his adductors.

Sam Byram picked up a knock in the win over the Tractorboys, just when it looked as though the injury situation at Elland Road was improving. The arrival of Joel Piroe strengthens the Whites’ options in the final third, but they’re still light in midfield.

The German head coach provided an update on Stuart Dallas’ injury in midweek, but still refuses to put a timeframe on his return given severity of his injury.

Ipswich Town boss says his side were ‘the better team’ in Leeds United defeat

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna felt his side were the better team despite defeat to Leeds United. The 4-3 win for the Whites was their first of the campaign and a first defeat for the newly promoted Tractorboys.

Town are expected to be one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season and it’s clear to see why given their bright start to the campaign. Goals from Georginio Rutter, Willy Gnonto, Joel Piroe and Luis Sinisterra saw the Whites turn in an impressive display.

“It was a great game that could have gone either way, and I certainly feel we could have scored more goals than what we did,” McKenna told TownTV. “I thought we were the better team for 90% of the game and in most departments of it, and there were a lot of positives to take and lots of things to build on.

“We know the goals we conceded in the first half were poor ones and we could have done better, but that’s part of the adjustment to the level. We just need to keep going and trust what we’re doing, because there are so many things in that game that should give us confidence to trust in themselves.”
