Roberto De Zerbi has already said what Leeds United would get from eye-catching loan target – View

This week, Leeds United were linked with a move to sign Brighton attacking midfield talent Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the 23/24 season.

Leeds’ transfer business this summer had been a slow-burner, but the past week has seen the club burst into life in the market.

There are still a couple of areas needing attention, and attacking midfield was one of those – but the club look to be getting that position sorted next.

While Nadiem Amiri looks to be the name most likely to join Leeds at this stage after a £5million fee was agreed, there have been other links.

The club reportedly identified Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte as a possible target – according to Argentine journalist Bruno Gonzalez Garcia.

The 18-year-old has a big reputation in Argentina and with the Seagulls after emerging as yet another potential talent to come off the AMEX conveyor belt.

Here, we look at two qualities that Roberto De Zerbi has already pointed out in the Argentine international that Leeds fans would be looking forward to, if he did surprisingly join…

He’s ready

When you see that Leeds could be signing an 18-year-old from a Premier League club without a huge amount of experience in the country, there is reason to be somewhat cautious on what to expect.

However, he’s already cut his teeth in the top-flight of Argentina with Rosario Central at the age of 17, where he was brilliant, and rightfully earned a swift move to the Premier League – if Brighton want you, you’re likely good and very talented, but also have the right mindset as a professional.

While speaking to VAVEL, De Zerbi pointed out that Buonanotte is capable of stepping into the Premier League, one of the most demanding leagues in the world:

“Yes, Facundo [Buonanotte] is another big potential player, another smart player. I think he also has the personality and blood to play in the Premier League.

“He must understand the country, the football in a new country and style, and how we are playing.”

Should Leeds cash in on Gnonto?

His talent as an attacking midfielder is huge

A young, fairly lesser-known Argentine attacking midfielder ripped the league apart in Farke’s first title-winning campaign in the EFL, and he would be looking for similar influence here.

South American flair and creativity is something that gets every fan off their seats, and Farke has been able to get the best out of that in the past, and could be onto another sensational talent here, if this deal goes through.

Needless to say, if Leeds were to pursue the teen, he has the Italian’s seal of approval to go onto even bigger things than just excelling in the second tier:

“But, to understand, sometimes he has to play. You can lose time playing with young players, but you have to do it. If you want to find a different level in the future, you have to invest.

“I think he will play well. I want him to only think about enjoying, he has to show me nothing because I believe in him, and he will become one of the most important players for Brighton in the next future.”
