Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive amid claims that Liverpool are interested in signing Douglas Luiz

Liverpool are said to have discussed bidding for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, it is claimed.

The Merseysiders have missed out on a number of midfielder targets this summer, including both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia who snubbed Jurgen Klopp’s side in favour of a move to Chelsea.

They have since signed central midfielder Wataru Endo from Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart for a reported £16million with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai arriving earlier this summer.

And Liverpool are said to be looking to strengthen their midfield further before Friday’s transfer deadline, with the window slamming shut at 11pm.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Villa’s Luiz has “been discussed internally” however, no approach has been made to sign the Villans’ defensive midfielder.

“Yeah, Douglas Luiz is a name that has been discussed internally by Liverpool. I’m not aware of any movement at this point,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“I think that it’s crystal clear that Liverpool wants to add between now and the end of the window if the right name becomes available.”

Liverpool have also recently been linked with another Villa midfielder in Boubacar Kamara who was said to be on the list of midfield transfer targets for the Merseysiders.
