Leeds United injury update…..

A look at how Leeds United’s loanees fared in the latest round of games

Leeds United loanee Brenden Aaronson endured a rotten second appearance for Union Berlin. The American international was shown a red card for two bookable offences.

The Whites midfielder was shown his marching orders in the 21st minute with his side leading 1-0 against Bundesliga new boys Darmstadt. The hosts equalised three minutes after Aaronson’s dismissal, but the Champions League side rediscovered their composure and ran out 4-1 winners despite going down to ten men.

Sticking in the Bundesliga, Max Wober played the full 90 minutes as Borussia Monchengladbach were blown away by Bayer Leverkusen. The centre-half shipped three goals as their search for the first win of the season goes on.

Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente both started for Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma in their 2-1 defeat to Verona. Both Leeds United players were replaced at half-time with Roma trailing 2-0 at the break.

Jack Harrison is still yet to recover from his injury in pre-season and was left out of Everton’s matchday squad for the defeat to Wolves on Saturday. The Toffees are bottom of the Premier League and are yet to win so this season.

Sonny Perkins, who joined Oxford United on loan last week, was left out of the Yellows squad that defeated Charlton Athletic 2-1 on home soil.

Daniel Farke’s injury problems are showing no sign of improvement

It’s almost a case of one step forward, two steps back for Leeds United in their battle to get players fit. Daniel Farke was able to call Leo Hjelde and Crysencio Summerville back into the matchday squad for the Whites’ win over Ipswich Town, but Daniel James was ruled out of the tie following an injury to his adductors.

Sam Byram picked up a knock in the win over the Tractorboys, just when it looked as though the injury situation at Elland Road was improving. The arrival of Joel Piroe strengthens the Whites’ options in the final third, but they’re still light in midfield.

The German head coach provided an update on Stuart Dallas’ injury in midweek, but still refuses to put a timeframe on his return given severity of his injury.

Leeds Live has compiled the latest injury news from Elland Road and their potential return dates below.

Sam Byram

What Farke has said: “Well, first of all, it feels a bit like right now we’re in the season and if you think ‘thank God no sucker punch’, comes another sucker punch. Sam has been brilliant so far and this moment there was an injury. He was even last games one of our best performers.”

Ian Poveda

What Farke has said: “For Ian, this game comes too soon. I hope he’s back available for next week, but was not in training during this week, so he’s not available.”

Expected return date: September 2.

Liam Cooper

What Farke has said: “We have to wait for further assessment. So he rolled his ankle and we’re checking him right now. I hope it’s not too bad because we desperately need him but we have to wait to see what the scan says.”

Expected return : September

Mateo Joseph

What Farke has said: “Sadly also bad news was Mateo Joseph because he rolled his ankle on Wednesday in training and we feared a lot because yesterday he was on crutches but it looks better right now than it was two days ago. So he will definitely miss the next three to four weeks but it was a ligament damage. No surgery is needed and but he will also definitely miss out the next games.”

Expected return: September

Stuart Dallas

What Farke has said: “Yes with Stuart, like I mentioned, he’s on the long term rehab. We will still be unbelievably careful with him, he is still far away from being in team training. Again no pressure from our side.”

Expected return : Unknown

Junior Firpo

The full-back is still recovering from a knee ligament injury and hasn’t made an appearance since Farke took the reins at Elland Road earlier in the summer. The statement released by the club two weeks ago stated Firpo was four weeks away from a return, though.

Expected return : September
