Injury blow hit Leicester City

An injury to Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet prevented him from returning to Torino on deadline day, despite talks between the two teams having ‘intensified’ in the last days of the transfer window.

According to Calciomercato, the Belgian midfielder is at risk of missing the first three months of the season due to injury, which has thwarted a planned exit.

Praet played last season on loan with Torino and was such an important player for the Italian team that they wanted to sign him permanently this summer.

Throughout the transfer window, a deal was negotiated, with Leicester more than willing to sell for the right amount. However, agreeing on a price with Torino proved difficult, with the Italians unwilling to invest despite wanting the player back.
Because the two sides were unable to reach an agreement before the window closed last night, Praet was forced to remain in England.

Calciomercato explain that Leicester and Torino had been chatting in recent days, indeed contact between them had ‘intensified’ but an injury to the midfielder ‘delayed the transaction’.

According to them, Praet is set to miss as many as three months of the season with an injury and when they discovered as much, Torino decided to ‘interrupt the negotiations’.

His injury lay off is set to be longer than they had expected and so didn’t want to sign him now, but he is an option that ‘will be discussed’ once again when January rolls around.
