“The league table is a beautiful thing right now!”. West Ham went top of the Premier League after a well-deserved victory .

Our Hammers continued their incredible start to the season by winning their third straight game, bringing their total to 10 points from a possible 12, matching their performance in the 1999–2000 season under Harry Redknapp. This was their third away game in the first four games of the season.

Last night against Luton, who were playing their maiden Premier League game at Kenilworth Road, David Moyes’ team dominated for significant stretches of the game. However, our Hammers ruined the celebration.

On the 37th minute, Lucas Paqueta sent a beautiful cross that Jarrod Bowen headed into the bottom corner to give our Hammers an early lead.

West Ham took control of the game in the second half, while Luton appeared to be a team with heart but not much quality, especially in the final third.

Despite David Moyes’ team dominating, a second goal was required to provide that crucial buffer. The goal was disallowed for offside even though it appeared to have come via the once again excellent Emerson.

Kurt Zouma eventually scored the game-winning goal with five minutes remaining in regulation, with a superb header from a well-placed James Ward-Prowse corner. Our captain made sure to celebrate in front of the home crowd, who had booed him throughout.

It was West Hams night as we strolled away with a well-earned 3 points and returned to the top of the table. There was a late scare as Luton pulled one back through Anderson with only 2 minutes of extra time remaining.

ExWHUEmployee, who was at the match, was understandably delighted with the result and gave his thoughts on yet another win in this so-far very positive campaign.

“It was a result I expected us to get yesterday,” stated our Podcast co-host and club insider. “And although the score line suggests it was close, I felt we were in total control and never really had to get into our full stride.
