According to talkSPORT, Al Ettifaq would try to buy Daniel Podence from Wolves if Everton do not agree to sell Demarai Gray.

On Sunday [3 September], the news outlet stated on its website that Everton had been given 24 hours to make a choice on Gray’s future.

If the Toffees say no, the Saudi club would reportedly turn their focus to Wolves winger Podence.

Messy situation

The transfer window for Saudi clubs remains open until next Thursday [7 September], which is causing concern among Premier League clubs.

This is an odd case, because it appeared for a long time that Everton were more than willing to move Gray.

However, because the Toffees have been unable to sign any other players, it appears like the Jamaica international will remain at the club.

As a result of a comment Gray wrote on social media intended at Sean Dyche, this could lead to an embarrassing conversation at Finch Farm.

Gray has already passed a medical with Al Ettifaq [Asharq Al-Awsat], but it is possible that this was done without Everton’s agreement.

It’s a tangled issue that might become even more so if Gray, as has become the pattern, refuses to play for Dyche.

Alternatively, Everton may be attempting to secure the highest possible sum for the winger, who has yet to appear in a team this season.

In any case, we should have a better idea of the situation after Al Ettifaq’s alleged deadline on Monday [4 September].
