Following the enthralling contest, Toffees manager Dyche was left to ponder what could have been, despite seeing signs of development from his team.
Everton manager Sean Dyche was upset as his club was held to a 2-2 draw by Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon, which was broadcast live on TNT Sports.
Toffees midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure scored his team’s first league goal of the season, before Cameron Archer leveled and Jordan Pickford’s unlucky own goal put the hosts ahead 2-1 just before halftime.

Everton moved up to 18th and Yorkshire went up to 16th, both on a single point ahead of the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.
Dyche was frustrated, but he refused to accept blame.
“We’ve got to do the basics better,” he told TNT Sports, “because most of our performance was spot on.” Again, a lot of that performance was correct.”
Dyche acknowledged to being disappointed by the Premier League’s referees’ apparent lack of consistency.
“You’ve got to have parity across the division,” he stated after witnessing a number of aggressive challenges go unnoticed. If that was Man City today, there would be fouls all over the place. If it had been any of the top six, there would have been fouls all over the place, especially on Beto. “All I want is equality.”
Dyche went on to say that he had noticed an improvement in his team’s performance.
“We had so many breakaways and positions, but we didn’t take advantage of them,” he remarked. The game should have been cancelled. That is the distinction. I’ll bring two goals from home. The mentality and physicality are both good; it’s just the specifics.”
Pickford commented at full-time about his heroics in goal and the team’s progress.
“There are a lot of positives there, but there are still a few negatives as a team,” he remarked. It was a better performance, but it was one that should have earned us three points.”
Dyche’s Sheffield United teammate Paul Heckingbottom was disappointed with the result, especially after Pickford’s late miracle saves.
“We are disappointed with the goals [achieved],” he remarked. It was a good game, but the outcome was probably fair. It was two teams vying for each other.”
