According to Alan Nixon, Leicester City missed out on signing striker Georges Mikautadze during the last transfer window.

Leicester City were interested in signing the Georgian international during the previous transfer window in order to improve their attacking options.

Mikautadze, 22, eventually joined Ajax from freshly promoted Ligue 1 side Metz.

On his Patreon page, reporter Nixon claims that the Foxes wanted him but couldn’t get his signature because they needed to discharge someone first.

If Leicester had been able to entice Mikautadze to come to England, he would have been a valuable addition. He is of a reasonable age and has the ability to mature and develop in the future.

However, it was not to be, and the Championship club instead signed Tom Cannon from Everton on deadline day. The forward spent the second half of last season on loan in the second division with Preston North End, where he was a big hit, scoring eight goals in all competitions.

Mikautadze has spent the previous seven years at Metz, breaking into their first-team last year following a few of loan spells at RFC Seraing in Belgium to help his development. He scored 24 goals.
