Daniel Farke is nearing a decision, as late transfer activity puts Leeds United in a bind.

A roundup of the most recent Leeds United news.

On Monday, September 4, a look at the latest Leeds United headlines.

Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has told Georginio Rutter that he needs to start scoring goals, as his lack of urgency has irritated the former Whites manager.

“He doesn’t really look like he’s going to finish,” Redfearn said after the 0-0 draw with the Owls. “There are parts of me that sympathize with him, but I don’t think he helps himself at times.”

“I look at his body language; he doesn’t seem to be in a hurry.” I believe you can work yourself out of a jam; you can really grind and close down for your team, and be that additional body up top when you don’t have it as well.

“You just don’t see any of that, which is probably irritating.” Because that comes to the fore as a result of wasted opportunities, and he squandered a lot of them at Salford.

“I said after the game that he’s getting into positions, which is fantastic, and you have to applaud that, and there’s a case to be made for saying that again today.” You know, if you keep getting in those positions, you’re going to have to start finding the back of the net sooner or later.”

Daniel Farke will have plenty of decisions to make when putting together his Leeds United starting XI to face Millwall after the international break. The Whites expanded their squad with five new arrivals in the final eight days of the transfer season, and fitting them all in appears to be a challenge.

There are decisions to be made in the front four, with Jaidon Anthony available and capable of stepping in, and in the midfield, with Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara competing for spots in the line-up alongside Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray. However, perhaps one of the most difficult choices the head coach will have to make comes at right-back, with both Luke Ayling and Djed Spence vying for a starting role.

Farke’s decision on Saturday was made easier by the fact that Spence had not played a competitive minute before joining Elland Road. As a result, Ayling started for the Whites and performed admirably against Sheffield Wednesday before being replaced by Spence in the 81st minute.

Leeds United have discovered a successful Championship solution to the season-threatening transfer issue.

Leeds boss Gracia considering starting club-record signing Rutter against Chelsea

Just nine hours before the transfer window closed, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke was explaining how happy he was to see the window closing and how relieved he was to have escaped unscathed after all summer speculation that Luis Sinisterra and Wilfried Gnonto were on their way out. Then came the knockout blow!

As time passed, relief gave way to irritation as it was revealed that AFC Bournemouth were pushing up their attempt to sign Sinisterra, with the player preparing to dig his heels in around a contract clause that had been dropped from training just weeks before. The Colombian was on his way out, and Leeds could do little to stop him, with the impression that their hand was forced.

Georginio Rutter can be another one of Leeds' weapons against relegation

Receiving a large payment for the winger with little time to spend it was meaningless, therefore receiving something else in return was critical. With a swap agreement in hand, Jaidon Anthony steps forward. It was perhaps as good as Leeds could have asked for at this point. While some have been critical of the acquisition, former player Carlton Palmer believes the Whites have a competent player on their hands to deal with the demands of the Championship.
