Devastated’: Coach tells Tottenham they have 22-year-old player for opponents

Tottenham Hotspur had a successful transfer window with many impressive signings.

Spurs have completed their summer run with the signing of Wales international Brennan Johnson.

Tottenham signed the 22-year-old from Nottingham Forest on final day for a fee of £47.5m.

Johnson hopes to make his Spurs debut against Sheffield United after the international break.

The striker has shown his ability in the Premier League after shining for Forest last season. Johnson has eight league

goals and three assists for the Reds, plus 10 goals in all competitions.

His efforts helped Steve Cooper’s side stay i’s the Premier League in its first season.

“A great attitude”
Before shining in the East Midlands shirt, Johnson had a successful loan period at Lincoln City.

Johnson scored 13 goals for the Imps that season, followed by 19 in his first season as a Forest regular.

Michael Appleton, Spurs’ rookie coach at Lincoln, told Sky Sports how impressive the player is.

“He ran behind it was brutal,” he said. “He’s not the type of player you can face 50m away. “He tends to occupy two players. He has the ability to collect the ball at the edge of his box and, for a few seconds, let opponents save his life in the home half.

“Having players that can play through the transition and get you moving 40 or 50 yards down the pitch on your own instead of needing smart coordination to play with others is huge.

“He is one of those guys who can shock you when you come on the pitch. It relieves pressure.

“I’ve worked with strikers who can lose interest and get frustrated if they don’t get the right serve, but Brennan has a great attitude. He’s still a willing run. We’ve all seen what Johnson is capable of in the Premier League when he shone for Forest last season and kept them going. He is an outstanding player with a bright future ahead of him, so it will be good to see how he performs at Tottenham in the coming years.

Fabrizio Romano claims Tottenham Hotspur did indeed ask to sign Rasmus Hojlund in July before the player signed for Manchester United.
Romano spoke out in his latest YouTube video and shared some “secrets” about Hojlund’s move to Old Trafford.
