LEICESTER CITY MISS OUT ON SUMMER MORE FOR INTERNATIONAL STRIKER

According to Football Scotland, Rangers’ failure to qualify for the Champions League, plus their inability to eliminate Ben Davies, could cause them to miss out on Harry Souttar.

Rangers manager Michael Beale is keen to add a defender to his squad after a 5-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in Champions League qualifying.

The Leicester City defender, whose brother is also playing at Glasgow, has been linked with a decision.

Souttar is not currently a key member of Enzo Maresca’s squad and the Foxes are willing to let him go.

However, that move is now in jeopardy due to Rangers’ lack of revenue from the Champions League.

-ADVERTISEMENT-Another reason why this decision failed was the fact that Gers could not make room for a player on his team.

Rangers are likely to consider signing Liverpool player Davies. However, as this has yet to happen, Beale is unable to sign with Souttar. Souttar would have added significant Scottish top-flight experience to Rangers, having played for Dundee United and Ross County.

Sunderland have brought Kelechi Chibueze into the fold ahead of a potential permanent transfer

According to the Sunderland Echo, the 19-year-old is currently training at the Academy of Light, where he is being evaluated before a possible transfer.

The goalkeeper is working with Graeme Murty while Sunderland considers whether to offer the player a contract.

Chibueze is currently without a club after leaving Leicester City at the start of the summer.

It is understood that the Championship side has yet to make a decision regarding Chibueze’s future.

Who is Kelechi Chibueze? The 19-year-old is a former underage goalkeeper for Leicester and Chelsea who is yet to step into senior football.

Chibueze joined the Foxes in 2020, leaving Chelsea in an attempt to make his way to the first team easier.

However, he failed to convince Brendan Rodgers to include him in his plans, despite the team struggling with goalkeeping problems last year.

The goalkeeper has competed at the minor international level, playing four times for England Under-16s.

The player is also of Nigerian descent and has so far spent most of his career playing at the Under-18 level.
