Leeds United’s opponents have described them as a “serious team” so far this season.

The Whites have had a difficult start to the season, with only two wins in seven games across all competitions.

Leeds United’s season has started slowly after being relegated from the Premier League last year. Daniel Farke would not have expected only two wins from seven games in all competitions.

Nonetheless, with the summer transfer market closed and players arriving late, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic. The additions of Glen Kamara, Djed Spence, and Ilia Gruev to a youthful squad should provide much-needed experience and quality.

Farke knows exactly what it takes to develop a Championship-winning team, and all attention will be on domestic activity until January.

The Whites have already made an indelible mark on the teams they’ve faced, with opposing coaches fully aware of the danger they bring. Leeds Live has compiled a list of what those in the opposing dugout have said about Farke’s team.

‘They are very, very good individually.’

Leeds United drew 2-2 with Cardiff City on the first day of the season, and Bluebirds manager Erol Bulut was impressed.

“I think the draw was a fair result for us,” Bulut explained. “We handled the pressure really well in the second half, but when you concede a goal just after halftime and another at 90+5, you’re never going to like it, and I don’t like it.”

“We played a really good Leeds team.” Individually, they are quite talented, and they put us under a lot of strain in the second half.

“The atmosphere was also fantastic, which is to be expected at big games in this division.” However, given the circumstances at the time, we must be content.

“I am very pleased with our first-half performance, both offensively and defensively, but we must put the bad things behind us.”

“Perhaps things would have been different if Joe Ralls hadn’t been injured so early.” I’m not sure about it. Football is similar.

“You can’t talk about ‘ifs’.” Today occurred, Joe was hurt, but we got a point, which is excellent.”

‘They’re a fantastic team.’

Following Shrewsbury Town’s 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat, Matt Taylor of Leeds United remarked Leeds were a fantastic team. “If the players keep putting in the effort like they did tonight, we’ll keep reproducing performances like that,” he remarked. I believed we were attentive when it came to possession.

“So the goal that we scored was excellent because we worked on it earlier in the week.” And, you know, they’re a great team, and they had to make a change at halftime to get back into the game.

“I just felt like the goals we gave away were avoidable, as are all goals.” The first one was a bit of a lucky break. Second, I believe we could have handled it better as a team with the set play.

“However, I stand here today extremely proud of all the players’ efforts.”

“We dedicate that win to Trevor Francis and his family,” Blues manager John Eustace said after Birmingham’s 1-0 win over Leeds. I thought the performance was truly memorable; I believed we were great both with and without the ball. I’m overjoyed to have received three points.

“I think the whole team was on the front foot at critical times, coming into the last five or six minutes, lovely bit of passage of play and to switch the play like we’ve been working on all pre-season, Ethan [Laird] is a great player in those situations, and it was a deserved penalty.”

“Jukey, a club legend, marks a special day by stepping up and putting the ball away, so I’m overjoyed.” I thought our shape without the ball was great today, as was the boys’ discipline against an excellent club – Leeds are a serious team at this level, with some incredible players.

“It’s a shame in the final third we weren’t clinical enough or played the final pass, but that’s something we’ll keep growing and building on.”

“We were looking for a tactical game plan.” I saw the game against Shrewsbury in midweek and went to the Cardiff game last week, so we know how dangerous they are in the last third.

“The level of concentration the boys had to show today was immense.”
