Vincent Kompany provides Burnley injury update ahead of Tottenham clash
Vincent Kompany has revealed that the injury Hjalmar Ekdal suffered during Burnley’s Carabao Cup draw with Nottingham Forest was not as serious as initially feared.

The defender had to leave the field at the City Ground after being given oxygen after a combination in the Burnley penalty area.

Speaking after the game, Kompany suggested it was the Swede’s knee injury and he insisted “it could be serious”.]
By providing more updates this afternoon ahead of Saturday’s return game against Tottenham, the Burnley boss was able to deliver a more positive update.
The Belgian also addressed the condition of Aaron Ramsey, another player sent off during Burnley’s 1-0 second-round win.
“This game has a small overhead and I think some players won’t be on Saturday, to be fair,” Kompany said.

“It is important that we avoid extremely serious injuries. We worry for some of them, especially Ekdal, that the condition may be serious but in the end it is just normal recovery.

“That of course puts him off for the weekend.”
Meanwhile, Vitinho has also retired, but so far there is no news about the defender’s condition.

“Vitinho, we’re still evaluating as we speak, so we’ll take a look,” Kompany said.

The Clarets will be without Anass Zaroury again on Saturday when the winger plays the third and final game of his three-match suspension for the red card he received against Manchester City.

Jordan Beyer and Michael Obafemi are both out due to injury, while Darko Churlinov remains out due to health issues this summer.

The defender had to breathe oxygen on the pitch after a combination in the Burnley penalty area before being stretched out of the field.

Ekdal was one of three players disqualified due to disqualification, with Vitinho and Aaron Ramsay also forced off the field in their last 1-0 win that led to a third-round draw against Salford City.
It’s important to work with the win, even if it’s a trophy.

Zeki Amdouni’s superb finish to seal the victory and Sander Berge’s superb play in preparation.

Draw coming… “I think it’s going to be bad,” Kompany said of the three-time injury. “I will take any positive news about it.

“For Vitinho, we hope it’s not too bad. Just look at the photos, it looks like the knee of both, but there are different degrees and it can cause a little pain for some people.

“As for Ekdal, we hope it won’t be too serious. I think he was in a lot of pain [that’s why he needed oxygen].

“I am not a doctor, but my intuition is that sometimes feeling a lot of pain can also be a good sign. If everything is ripped from the bone, you won’t feel anything. Athletes know this.
Kompany added:
“I really hope it’s not too serious, but this game definitely takes a toll.

“Looks like it was one of those moments when Aaron Ramsey also had to step down. I’ll have to talk to the doctors, I don’t know. That’s just one of those games.

Zeki Amdouni was Burnley’s hero, scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute to give the Clarets their first win of the season. Kompany added: “Based on our performance, we are happy to get what we deserved in terms of results and keep a clean sheet.” “This is a good win for the boys and takes us to another round. Our fans will be eagerly waiting to see who we face next.

“I think we are fine on the second ball, we are fine in duels and we can do a lot of damage when pressing the ball.

“When we have the ball, we always create our chances.”
