QPR should keep a watch on this free agent from Nottingham Forest: Opinion

Lyle Taylor is still available, and the R’s could attempt to bring him in if they have a pressing need to address their forward position.Queens Park Rangers bolstered a number of positions during the summer transfer window, thanks to player sales that allowed them to bring in new players.

Gareth Ainsworth always seemed to need the summer to impose his mark on the R’s team – because last season’s roster required shaking up.
They may have been at the top of the Championship in the early stages of the season, but their inability to fight back until late in the season was a major concern, and it wasn’t due to a manager.

The R’s struggled in the latter stages of Mick Beale’s tenure, won one game in 12 under Neil Critchley, and only just scraped by under current manager Ainsworth.

If anyone could get them out of trouble, it was Ainsworth, who had pulled off a daring escape with Wycombe.

If anyone could bring them out of trouble, it was Ainsworth, who pulled off a stunning escape with Wycombe Wanderers on the penultimate day of the 2013/14 season.

He’s a great man manager with a track record of success from his time at Adams Park.

Their transfer business has most likely contributed to a solid (if not outstanding) start to the season, but they are missing depth in one or two places, which could come back to bother them.Looking at their forward line, they desperately need more alternatives, even if they only play one up top for the rest of the season.

Lyndon Dykes has the potential to be a regular goal scorer this season, while Sinclair Armstrong is also promising, although the latter is still inexperienced, and Charlie Kelman hasn’t played much football at this level.

Ilias Chair and Chris Willock can also help in the final third, but they will have to rely on the free agent market for another striker or two.

Andre Gray is one player who has just become available, but Taylor, who was released by Nottingham Forest in the summer, could be a strong choice.Having previously worked in the English capital, and with QPR still a second-tier club, you’d think the ex-Forest man would be open to the move, even if it meant accepting a relatively low wage.

He’s certainly keen to get back into the game after a long absence, and the R’s could present him with an opportunity.

He can not only hold the ball up, but he can also press well and is a proven goalscorer in the EFL, having done well on loan at Birmingham City during the second half of last season.

Why did a Nottingham Forest move result in a ‘tongue-lashing’ for a promotion hero?
Goalkeeper Brice Samba comments on leaving Nottingham Forest for Lens in the latest Nottingham Forest news.

Brice Samba, goalkeeper for Nottingham Forest, says he has “no regrets” about leaving the club a year ago.

Trentside is still a fan of the Frenchman. During his time at the City Ground, he was a huge character on and off the pitch, and he was instrumental in the Reds ending their 23-year hiatus from the Premier League.
Samba left Forest just a few weeks after being promoted, leaving for Lens in July 2022. He had a year left on his contract at the time and had rejected down a new one.

It marked the end of his three-year stint with the Reds. And he confesses that his choice raised a few eyebrows.

When asked if his decision was understood, he told French source So Foot (via Sport Witness): “Not really, no.” I received a tongue-lashing (laughs).

“You can’t touch the Premier League in England, so it was like, what do you mean you’d rather go to Ligue 1?” It was unfathomable to them, but not to me.”Only two percent of 100 players would have done what I accomplished. I had all I required to remain there. I was performing well, and I was adored since I was the promotion’s hero.

“I have no regrets because everything Lens showed me came true.” It’s also the club that has helped me gain recognition in my home nation.”

Samba assisted Lens to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 last season and made his France debut early this year. He is one of the nominees for this year’s Yachin Trophy, which is granted to the world’s finest goalkeeper.

When his nomination was announced, he received a lot of support from Reds fans. And, when praised by the account Forest Watch, the 29-year-old made it plain that he still has feelings for his previous club, responding on social media with “thanks guys” and a heart emoji.
