Do you really concur with Maresca?

Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has been named Championship manager of the month for August after winning his first six games in charge of the club.

Following a promising start to the season, Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has pinpointed the final third as an area where his squad can develop over the course of the season.

City had won their first six games in all competitions under the Italian, but suffered their first defeat of the season in the game before the international break. Hull City won 1-0 at the King Power Stadium thanks to Liam Delap’s first-half goal. City were unable to break down their opponents and equalize.

New signee Abdul Fatuwu came the closest to tying the game for City, but his shot bounced off the base of a post shortly after coming on as a second-half substitute. Other chances came from Cesare Casadei and Jamie Vardy for City.

All of City’s league victories this season have come by a single goal, and Maresca has stated that he wants to enhance the attacking side of the game this season.

“There are many things to do, for sure, probably in the last third we need to improve and add things,” he said after being voted August’s Championship manager of the month by FoxesHub. “Our seven official games all show that we arrive quite easily in the last third, then probably due to the choice, or because we want to finish the action quickly, we are probably wrong in some choices.”

“However, once there, we must be patient in order to find the right solution.” It is something that we will undoubtedly enhance.”

During the international break, Maresca had some extra time to work with his non-international players. Players who are currently on international service will rejoin the squad next week.

City return to action on Friday night against fellow demoted side Southampton. The Saints were also defeated before the international break, going down 5-0 at Sunderland.
