A win here would be a clear statement from Leeds that their season begins here.

As the Sunday showdown approaches, Leeds United should attempt to capitalize on pundits’ allegations of “unrest”

Leeds United travel to Millwall this weekend in search of a rare victory in South London, but Gary Rowett’s team may not be winning over fans.

League action resumes this weekend, with Leeds United not returning to the Championship until Sunday.

They travel to Millwall knowing that a great performance is required to leave the New Den with anything.

David Prutton gives his thoughts on the game.

David Prutton is no stranger to this fixture from his time at Leeds, having scored in the Whites’ previous win at the New Den in 2007/08.

Prutton had this to say about the game to the Yorkshire Evening Post:

“I’ve played in a couple of Millwall games this season, and it’s been a bit up and down.”

“Having played in these games both at home and away, I know how juicy they are.” Gary has now consistently performed well for Millwall, despite the disappointment of missing out on the play-offs on the final day of the season.

“There’s been a smidgeon of unrest since.” In terms of the supporter base, I witnessed it at Norwich. But Gary has been in this game long enough to know what it’s like to cope with the slings and arrows, so I hope Leeds will give him a warm welcome back.

“But with teams like this, with all due respect to Millwall, if Leeds want to knock on the door of not just the top six, but the top two, then this is one that needs to come and go and come back with three points.”

Leeds must seize the opportunity.

Millwall are now one point ahead of Leeds with two wins, a draw, and two losses this season, so they should be optimistic of earning a result against us here.

However, as Prutton alluded to, the way in which they blew a play-off spot last season will undoubtedly have repercussions for the fanbase this season.

Their troubles in the transfer market, particularly in defence, will not make Gary Rowett’s job any easier while Shaun Hutchinson sits out.

Such ‘unrest,’ as Prutton points out, is something Leeds should exploit, neutralizing a normally difficult crowd to play against by controlling the game from start to finish.

A win here would be a clear statement from Leeds that their season begins here.
