Stuart Dallas, a Leeds United midfielder, has dismissed a report that an injury may cause him to retire with a two-word reaction on social media.

A now-deleted message on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, by a fan-run account indicated that the catastrophic injury he sustained against Manchester City in April 2022 would cause the Northern Ireland star to retire. Dallas’ response was straightforward: “Fake news.”

“We will continue to be extremely cautious with him; he is still a long way from team training.” Again, no pressure from us.”

Dallas was a key member of Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion-winning Leeds team and starred once more in the club’s first season back in the Premier League. Since joining Leeds from Brentford in 2015, the 56-cap Northern Ireland man has played 267 times for the Whites, scoring 28 goals. He signed a new deal in 2021 that will last through the summer of 2024.
