“I agree with everything you’re saying, Coisty,” West Ham manager David Moyes answered.

West Ham United manager David Moyes believes the Europa Conference League is an excellent opportunity for a “different level of team” to win European silverware, sending a message to clubs competing in continental competition.

The manager discussed the feelings of winning the competition last season, citing Jose Mourinho, who was equally ecstatic when his Roma team won it the year before the Hammers.

Moyes also applauded UEFA for establishing the competition, which has allowed teams that may not necessarily have the quality to compete for the Champions League the opportunity to win European silverware.

Moyes addressed the competition with Ally McCoist on talkSPORT on September 12, and the latter stated: “I am of the opinion that clubs like West Ham, Brighton, even Rangers and Celtic, have no chance of winning the Champions League.” Rangers and Celtic, in the current context.

“However, now that you’ve put it on the map, you’ve seen how much it meant to West Ham fans.”

“I agree with everything you’re saying, Coisty,” West Ham manager David Moyes answered.

“Being a European champion is a truly unique experience.” The night was beautiful for us, and scoring at the last second made it even better. What it meant to Jose Mourinho the year before, they (Roma) were the competition’s first victors. Jose is a multiple winner, and he knows how much winning means to him.

“Winning the Conference League this year will be extremely difficult.” And, sure, I agree, the Champions League is really competitive, and beating Manchester City or Inter Milan is difficult nowadays.

“However, the Conference League may give you a chance, and UEFA has done a good job in putting out a third competition that may involve a different level of team.”

A tremendous chance for a new squad to reach success.

Moyes and McCoist are true; it would be nearly difficult for West Ham, Brighton, Celtic, or Rangers to win the Champions League when competing against Manchester City, but the Conference League could provide them with a chance.

The idea to create a third European competition was regarded with skepticism at first, but the passionate displays of the first two winners, Roma and West Ham, have demonstrated that it provides an opportunity for teams that would not ordinarily be able to compete at this level.

Even famous managers like Jose Mourinho have been moved to tears by what is ultimately a European title, one of the most significant achievements in football, regardless of level.

As a result, the competition has gotten quite fierce. Teams perceive it as a chance to win silverware and, as a result, go all-out in their pursuit of triumph, where they may otherwise have fielded a rotated squad or rested important players.
