Sunderland’s attacking midfielder returns to action for Derby after missing eight months due to injury.
Eliot Embleton made his first appearance since being injured against Hull City eight months ago.
Sunderland offensive midfielder Elliot Embleton returned to competitive action this week after missing eight months due to injury.
The Academy of Light product joins Derby County on loan this week as he continues his recuperation after breaking his leg against Hull City in December of last year.
Embleton started and scored for Derby County’s under-21 team in the Rams’ 5-2 Central League Cup opener against Lincoln City at Moor Farm.
Embleton made his first competitive game in eight months after suffering a major injury against the Tigers on December 17, 2022.
“I can’t wait to get started and get some games in,” Embleton said after joining Derby. “Sunderland have a similar fan base to Derby, so I know how big of a club this is.”
“I’d like to think I’m capable of coming here and dealing with the pressure.” I’m going to attack. I desire to score goals and provide assists while also contributing to the squad as much as possible.”
