Emery is considering a reunion with a former Arsenal player as the Aston Villa manager considers a move to Real Madrid.

As Unai Emery prepares for the January transfer window, Aston Villa are rumoured to be interested in Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.

So far, Emery has done an excellent job at Villa Park, and the team has had a great summer transfer window.

Aston Villa have signed Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans, and Moussa Diaby, who has made an impression so far.

The club also made use of the loan market, signing Nicolo Zaniolo and Clement Lenglet on short-term contracts. Emery understands the European market well, and it appears that they will be returning to it in January.

El Desmarque reports that Emery will try to ‘convince’ Ceballos to join him at Villa Park in January. The Real Madrid midfielder is well known to the Spanish manager from his stint at Arsenal.

Emery signed Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid during his final season as Arsenal manager. The midfielder went on to spend two years in North London, making 78 appearances.

While at Real Madrid, the 27-year-old was frequently utilized as a squad player, and the promise of regular first-team playing in the Premier League could be appealing.

Ceballos is yet to play for Real Madrid this season as he recovers from a hamstring injury. He is under contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2027, therefore a reasonable compensation would be expected.

This season, Emery’s favoured midfield trio has been John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, and Boubacar Kamara.

Tielemans has struggled to make an impression at his new club thus far, and he has already expressed his dissatisfaction with his lack of playing time.

“The situation is not pleasant,” Tielemans told journalists. “I informed the manager that I had come to Villa to play.” He knows what I’m saying, but for the time being, he prefers to play alongside the two midfielders from last season. He told me that there would be a series of games soon and that I would get more playing time.

“I know that answer isn’t going to get me anywhere, but what else should I do?” I intend to seize the opportunity as quickly as possible. I’ve only started once in the Conference League.”
