According to TEAMtalk, Everton are in advanced talks to sell midfielder Andre Gomes to Fenerbache.
According to the news outlet, the Toffees are willing to sell the 30-year-old for as little as £5 million, a “huge” loss on the £22 million they paid to sign him from Barcelona in 2019.
According to the report, the Turkish club is “eager” to complete a deal for the Portuguese midfielder before the country’s transfer deadline on Friday (15 September).
Inevitable
Despite many people believing that Gomes would have left Everton by now, it seemed almost inevitable that he would do so.
The midfielder has had a mixed relationship with the Toffees since joining on loan in 2018 before joining permanently at the end of the season.
Sean Dyche is said to be pleased with the Portuguese’s departure after he spent last season on loan at French club Lille, where he scored three goals and provided two assists in 27 games.
It makes sense to let him go now and collect some cash to attempt to balance the books, given he never seemed to be part of the manager’s plan for this season.
In other Everton news, the Premier League is expected to investigate the takeover announcement.
