If all goes according to plan, André Gomes will no longer be an Everton player by the end of the week.
According to Sporx in Turkey, who has the most recent information on Fenerbahçe’s pursuit of the Portuguese midfielder.
They say that the Turkish club were initially “not keen” on the Everton player when he was “offered by agents,” due to his “injury history.”
That’s fair given Gomes’ medical history between 2018 and 2021, including an ankle injury that caused him to miss 109 days between 2019 and 2020, but that’s all in the past.
The good news for Gomes is that everything changed when the management of the Süper Lig club, Ismail Kartal, ‘approved’ the notion of signing the Everton star.
When this occurred, Fenerbahçe decided to take the next step, which was to request ‘specific health reports’ on Gomes, whom they regard as ‘the last possibility’ on their list of targets.
Their initial choice would be Al-Musrati from SC Braga, but that is proving more difficult than expected, thus alternatives are being considered, including the Everton midfielder.
Since the Turkish transfer window closes on Friday, there is still time to complete a deal, and considering Gomes had no setbacks at Lille last year and hasn’t been injured since 2021, there could be good news on the future for the Sean Dyche outcast.
