Everton’s signing is being questioned by an anonymous agent.

Unidentified agent raises ‘bizarre’ concerns As Everton’s relegation is confirmed, Jack Harrison joins from Leeds United.

According to an alleged agency, Everton’s loan signing of Jack Harrison from Leeds United this summer was a “bizarre” move.

Harrison joined the Toffees on a season-long loan on 14 August, but he has yet to play due to a hip injury.

Everton used a loan option in the player’s Leeds contract that permitted him to go if Leeds were relegated from the Premier League.

Everton’s overall transfer activity was named the joint-second worst among Premier League teams in a poll of 20 agents for an article [14 September] covering a variety of themes, collecting 20% of the votes each, with Chelsea coming out on top.

According to one agent, “Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds – I do think he’s a good player, but it’s a bit strange that you’re loaning a player ‘up’.” Everton would seem to be interested in purchasing.”

Another agent stated that the summer business of the Toffees “smacks of relegation.”

Loophole

Everton’s transfer activity improved slightly after bringing in Beto late in the window.

After all, it was a striker Sean Dyche has desired since the last whistle blew on the final day of the season.

Arnaut Danjuma and Harrison will also contribute in the last third, as will the inexperienced Youssef Chermiti in time.

On the surface, the fact that Harrison was only signed on a loan basis appears peculiar. Remember, this is a guy that many believed was worth more than £20 million.

But Everton cannot be faulted for exploiting a loophole in Harrison’s contract, which practically means they have him for free for the time being.

It does mean that the Englishman will technically be a Leeds player again at the end of the season, but the Toffees can decide whether or not to sign him permanently at that point.

There was lots to be frustrated about in Everton’s summer transfer activity, but this deal does not fall into that category.

In other Everton news, the club is allegedly close to selling another player.
