Terracing on the North Stand, Everton Stadium’s first completed stand.

Since the restart of construction on Everton’s new stadium, there have been significant modifications on the ground, notably the completion of the first stand.

The first stand at Everton’s new stadium has been completed, with royal blue seats being installed as the first splash of color.

Major changes have occurred in the two weeks since work resumed on August 23 after a two-week halt following Michael Jones’s death on the job on August 14. The installation of full concrete terracing in the bottom deck of the north stand is a highly visible feature.

Because the upper tier was erected earlier, the north stand is now the first to be completed, ahead of upcoming seat installations. In preparation for the first wave, the seat carrier system, which will eventually support 52,888 blue seats, is being bolted to the terracing, while hand rails are being erected on the surrounding steps.

The south stand’s lower stand terracing has begun, and will soon provide a complete view of the raking, one-tier stand that will eventually hold almost 13,000 Evertonians. Work on the steel roofing structures continues, with the west stand now completed and the east stand close behind.

Roof covers for the south stand have begun, while the very visible milestone of rolling out the 170m-long top sheeting atop the north stand will begin next week. A crane is used to hang a container at roof level from which standing seam sheeting is rolled across the length of the roof.

Externally, the first granite flags for hard landscaping have arrived on site. Paving is set to begin this week in the stadium’s north east corner.

EVERTON STADIUM | About The Project

On June 28 of this year, Colin Chong, the club’s chief stadium officer and interim chief executive, stated, “We are confident the stadium will be completed in the final months of 2024,” and added, “it raises the question as to whether the club moves in mid-season.”

While fans will be consulted on when Everton will leave Goodison Park, they will not have the final say. The ECHO understands that there is a desire within the club not to make a mid-season relocation, and that the prevalent sentiment within the Blues’ corridors of power is to move at the start of the 2025/26 season, an option that Everton Stadium design guardian Dan Meis also supports.
