I’d be concerned if I were a Southampton fan, admits former Leicester City player
David Nugent has stated that if he were a Southampton supporter, he would be concerned after watching the Saints’ performance against Leicester City, which saw the Foxes triumph 4-1.

Southampton were relegated from the Premier League last season after finishing bottom of the table.Saints also hired former Swansea City manager Russell Martin to lead them back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

However, Southampton have suffered two consecutive big defeats against Sunderland and Leicester City, surrendering nine goals in two games, leading Nugent to believe that the Saints are playing in a style that they are not comfortable with.

When contrasted to Leicester City, the former Leicester City striker says Southampton seem like they’ve been in the Championship for a couple of years, and he’d be concerned if he were a Southampton supporter.

“For me, it just shows the level between the two sides,” Nugent explained on BBC Radio Leicester.

“Obviously, both teams were relegated from the Premier League, but based on today’s game, you’d think Southampton had been in this league for a couple of years.”
