How does the market worth of Stoke City compare to that of Sunderland?

We compared the market worth of Stoke City’s squad to that of Sunderland.
Despite making numerous new acquisitions, Stoke City had a disappointing season last year and has suffered with inconsistency in the early stages of the current season.
Stoke City’s market worth is €50.53 million, which places them 14th out of 24 Championship teams and much lower than Leeds United, Southampton, and Leicester City.

Sunderland has a market worth of €62.05 million, ranking them ninth in the Championship, and they have a philosophy of recruiting young players that may bring the club future riches.

Last season, the Potters ended 16th, and they have failed to significantly push for a return to the Premier League since their relegation from the top level in 2018.

After 18 new signings last summer, optimism was high at the club heading into the season, but the inconsistency that plagued Stoke last season has returned in the early stages of the current campaign.

There is no geographical reason for the Potters to create a rivalry with Sunderland, but there is some bad blood between the two teams after Alex Neil unexpectedly moved from the Stadium of Light to the bet365 Stadium in August.

Neil returned to torment his former team with a 5-1 victory on Wearside in March, but the Black Cats got the last laugh, reaching the play-offs and losing to Luton Town in the semi-finals.

We looked at how the market valuations of the two teams compare as both sides hope to strive for promotion in the next year.

How does the market worth of Stoke City compare to that of Sunderland?
Stoke City have a market worth of €50.53 million, according to Transfermarkt.

This makes them 14th out of 24 Championship teams, with their squad worth much less than Leeds United (€209.50m), Southampton (€234.80m), and Leicester City (€252.00m), the three highest market valuations in the league.

Ben Wilmot, last season’s Player of the Year, has the highest market value of any Potters player at €6.00 million, followed by Wouter Burger (€4.50 million), Sead Haksabanovic (€4.00 million), Ki-Jana Hoever (€3.50 million), and Tyrese Campbell, Wesley, and Lewis Baker (all €3.00 million).

Sunderland, on the other hand, has a market worth of €62.05m, placing them ninth out of the 24 Championship clubs.

Jack Clarke has the greatest market value of any Black Cats player at €12.00 million, followed by Anthony Patterson (€7.00 million), Jobe Bellingham and Timothee Pembele (both €5.00 million), and Dan Neil (€4.50 million).

Sunderland have recently developed a policy of recruiting bright young players, and while Tony Mowbray will be hoping they can deliver for his side right away, they will almost likely bring in a substantial profit for the club when they are sold in the future.

Neil has declared unequivocally that he has no regrets about leaving Sunderland for Stoke, but considering the disparity in fortunes between the two teams since his arrival at the bet365 Stadium, you have to wonder whether the Scotsman is second-guessing his choice.
