‘I want him,’ Sean Dyche claims, adding that the forgotten Everton player is ‘conscious’ of his feelings for him.

‘I WANT HIM,’ SAYS SEAN DYCHE TO FORGOTTEN EVERTON PLAYER.

Sean Dyche has said that Andre Gomes is ‘knowing’ that Everton manager Sean Dyche wants the midfielder to make an impression after a late trade to Fenerbahce fell through.

The 30-year-old has not played for Everton since celebrating his 100th appearance in blue in May 2022. Frank Lampard began Gomes against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park. But he caught the Portuguese at the break and quickly loaned him out.

Gomes spent the 2022/23 season with LOSC Lille in Ligue 1, where he appeared 26 times and scored three goals. He also contributed two assists in the French top flight after making 18 starts. However, Dyche’s appointment as manager at Goodison Park in February created concerns over Lampard’s future.

Andre Gomes was a last-minute transfer target for Fenerbahce.
Everton signed Gomes to a five-year contract in 2019, but he is only under contract until the end of the 2023/24 season. To complete a £22 million transfer from Barcelona, the midfielder committed to a long-term contract. He spent the previous season on loan with Marco Silva’s Toffees.

Silva attempted to arrange a permanent transfer for Gomes after he thrived during his brief stint on Merseyside. His talent shined through on numerous occasions, allowing him to draw the strings and produce a number of vital tackles. However, a fractured dislocated ankle in November 2019 ended his career.

Gomes has never been able to regain the form he had prior to the injury that necessitated surgery. Add in his contractual status, and Fenerbache saw an opportunity for a low-cost transfer before the Super Lig auction closed this Friday. But no action would be taken.

TEAMtalk reported earlier this week that talks between Everton and Fenerbahce on a £5 million trade for Gomes were advanced. The Yellow Canaries were eager to get a deal done, with the Toffees willing to cash in. Nonetheless, their efforts eventually fell short.

Sean Dyche wants Everton’s outcast to make an impression.

TEAMtalk also stated that Dyche was content for Everton and Fenerbahce to reach an agreement on Gomes’ sale. He was said to be receptive to the transfer in order to help cut the Toffees’ pay bill. Dyche, on the other hand, has declared that he wants Gomes to play for Everton this season.

“He has been unfortunate with injuries, not major injuries,” Dyche stated during a press conference on Friday, according to the Liverpool Echo. He is aware that I want him to get in shape and that I want him to participate in what we are doing.

“I believe he is a very good footballer, and I believe he has demonstrated that over the years.” I doubt he’ll depart; I believe he’ll be here by the end of the day, and I hope he is.”
