Jermaine Jenas tells Everton exactly what they need to do to get back on track.
Jermaine Jenas believes Everton require two things in order to return to winning ways at Goodison Park.

The ex-Tottenham midfielder stated that this Everton team is unlike any he has ever faced as a player because they are missing the person up front who you know will be scoring goals for the team.

He also said thae’t Sean Dychs side’s performances had not been good enough to get the crowd moving, claiming that the atmosphere against Arsenal was the worst he’d ever heard at Goodison Park.

Jenas stated on Match of the Day 2 [17 September, 17:50]: “The biggest problem they’ve had over those course of games is they can’t score goals.” Everton does not score easily.

“I believe that when Leon [Osman] was playing, whenever I went there with Newcastle or Spurs, they always had a top striker.” When he was there, it was either [Louis] Saha or [Romelu]. Lukaku

“They haven’t had it in a long time, and that’s one thing. Today, they lacked the most important thing they’ve always had: the ability to get the audience excited.

“It was like being in a public park; I’ve never heard Goodison Park so quiet.” That’s because of how they handled the game today.”
The audience has a significant impact on the outcome.

The Goodison Park crowd has always been capable of making their stadium a tough place to visit for other teams, getting on their backs and enthusiastically backing their team for 90 minutes as they virtually drag the sides to victory.
Some of the clearest evidence of this was seen at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, when Frank Lampard was in charge, with the crowd being praised for the victory over Crystal Palace in particular, which helped Everton avoid relegation that season.

However, the emotion and desire from the spectators appears to have dissipated considerably, and it looks that the passion and want on the pitch has followed suit. The audience can drag the team up a level, while the team can get the crowd on their side. This season, neither has occurred.

The need for a striker may be less pressing now that Beto has arrived, but it remains to be seen whether he can be a difference-maker in gaining results for his side against teams not of Arsenal’s caliber.

Another Everton stakeholder has lambasted Farhad Moshiri following a “disaster” development.
